I’m not going to say/admit that I’m in high demand and snotty. I’m just going to say that although I’m always open to new things and listen to what people have to say… a lot of times I turn them down. Now this isn’t because I’m self-aware or absorbed, or that I’m strictly following the No A**hole Rule. It’s more about the fact that I truly understand the value design brings to the business world, and I’m passionate about what I do for a living. I only want to be involved with other people who have a similar mindset. So if you’re approaching me with a new idea or opportunity, please check first that you not only respect the value that design brings to the table, but you’re also passionate about what you do. It inspires me—and when I’m inspired I do my best work. Otherwise I’m just collecting a check. And if that’s the kind of work I wanted to do I wouldn’t have chosen design as my profession.
